Student Comments
Some of the students spoke about what they learnt through the Term2 topic. Other classes wrote about their learning.
These comments can be viewed at the www.sharingthelearning.blogspot.com. This blog is linked to our "Bishopdale School News" blog where students write diary entries about things that have happened around the school.

So what did you think of the way we learnt?

We interviewed students to find out how they found the process.

Room 2 Student Comments

"My teacher made a photostory with us. It was fun! We looked the at a photo and had to decide what to say into the microphone. We had to talk about our picture to Mrs Oldfield. I like talking into a microphone more than writing about my work. Talking is easier and more interesting than writing because you don't have to be neat"

By Marshall Room 2 July
"I made a photostory with Mrs Branch. I had to talk about what they had to do in the olden days. The worst part was that I had to do lots of talking and I got tired. It was easy. It was easier than making a poster. I got finished quickly because I didn't have to write, stick or make all of the details. Next time I would take my time to breathe because last time I forgot to put in fullstops."

Room 3 Student Comments

"When we made a photostory about Ferrymead I looked at the photos with our teacher. Our teacher helped us make up things to say. I quite liked talking into the microphone. I liked the way I sounded. I like using crayons and paper just as much. I like it when i get to push the buttons in maths time. I think it would be good if we could make more photostories."

By Chloe Room 3

Room 4 Student Comments

"Making a photostory was fun because we got to write about our work and talk about it. It was cool hearing myself but I was embarrassed. If I did another photostory I would talk louder. It was easier and quicker than making a poster. My work looked better than if I made a poster"

Room 9 Student Comments

Last term I used the thinking keys, PMI, thinking hats and charts and graphs. I found these easier than just writing. I like having a question to think about because the other way just wastes books and my time. I remember things from charts better than from big bits of writing. I am motivated to complete charts and tables. They are quicker.

Room 10 Student Comments

I found using webspiration easy. It was better than doing a poster paper. It is quicker to make a mindmap on webspiration than on a poster.I like getting pictures to use on my diagrams and it is easier than drawing. I could use webspiration to show facts about Samoa or any other topic.

By Danny Room 10

Room 11 Student Comments
We used webspiration - this was good because you can go faster than doing it on paper. You can also make funny shapes and lines that some of us can't do very well on poster paper. I like being able to link one page to website. This was useful because you would have to think of the information and present them all. I would use webspiration again if I had to do a mindmap or for commenting about a story (like a review)

I like podcasts because you can just say the words after pressing record. you dont have to write, have your head down, you don't make mistakes as much. Podcasts are easier to fix your mistakes. If i was doing another podcasts I would put music at the start and talk slower. It was good that we could put them on a wiki (website) so that other people can hear our ideas.

By Jamie Room 11

Room 12 Student Comments

"Today I learned how to make 3d shapes using K'nex. I had fun. Nick is awesome. I really thought we did well. I wish we could do more stuff like this and make background music next time"

"Nick came into our classroom to do the photostory but this time we had to do the working. We took two photos of our bridges and made an advertisement for them on photostory."

We used webspiration at the start of our topic but didn't get finished.

Room 11
Room 11 students made podcasts about their observations of food packaging decomposition (science experiment)www.bishopdaleroom11.wikispaces.com
The front page of our webspiration can be viewed as a read only file so you can see the sort of things we have done.

As this is a read only file the links don't work.

We have recently made this photo story too.

Room 12 have used photo story, comic life and webspiration

Room 11
Used zooburst to collate some similes inspired by swimming lessons

We also made customised powerpoints using alliteration, verbs, adjectives and nouns.

We also used voicethread a wee bit to explore making general statements, giving opinions and generally thinking about issues. This helped us organise the student voice section of this page. You can view/hear this at the link below.

Room 12
Used Comic Life to create their reflections after swimming. They then used Youblisher to package the work together into an online book.
